ASK YOUR DANCER EACH WEEK WHAT HER HOMEWORK PRACTICE ASSIGNMENT IS! Each week I give out a step to practice or technique they need to work on. This is just like a musical instrument where they need to practice each day so they are better prepared for the next week's class. Thanks!
Updated 11/7/16
We are getting very excited for the upcoming recital and spring semester of dance and ask that you review all the following important information in preparation for this week and the weeks ahead. The information posted below will also be posted on the website in case you loose the email.
REMINDERS:
CLASSES IN NOVEMBER: Yes we will have class this week even though most schools do not have school on Thursday or Friday. However, there will be NO dance the week of Thanksgiving and hope that everyone enjoys this time with their family and friends!
PRE-STRETCHED: Please have your dancer come already stretched prior to classes starting this week. This will allow us more time to work on our performance numbers for our recital.
MAKE-UP CLASSES: If your dancer has missed a class we would love for her to do a make-up class. Your dancer is allowed up to 2 make-up classes a semester. If you are interested in a make-up class for your dancer please contact me to schedule one. They will be joining another class of similar age and ability.
SPRING SEMESTER REGISTRATION: Your registration in the fall is good for the entire school year, so no need to fill out another registration form for the spring semester of dance and your spot is secure for spring. Your dancer will remain in the class they are currently attending unless you notify me of a change that needs to be made. If you know of someone who is interested in registering for spring the registration for new dancers is now open.
SPRING SEMESTER OF DANCE WILL BEGIN THIS YEAR ON JANUARY 11TH AND 12TH.
SPRING COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE: Back by popular demand! We have been planning another community performance for this spring and will let you know the date, when the plans and location have been finalized. Can't wait to bring all the girls together to share their talent with the community!
Group Dance Order placed THIS Friday, November 11th!
Recently we were able to size nearly all of the dancers for their tan leotard they will need for the performance. For the performance each girl will need a tan leotard to wear underneath another leotard that will be supplied for the performance. This makes it so the leotards look crisp and white or fresh and clean ready for the dancer and if a leotard needs to be changed they can do so with comfort knowing their tan one is keeping them modest between changes.
In addition to the tan leotard all dancers will need to have white tights (footed if they wear ballet slippers and footless if they dance with bare feet).
Please note that we sized your daughter with the Childs size Capezio Classic Square Neck Leotard.
When sizing we used a prewashed, preshrunk leotard so a brand new one that has never been washed or dried will be larger. If on the new one the straps are too long or big please safety pin them or sew them down to be a little tighter. This will allow for when they do grow to unpick the stitches or unpin to get more wear out of the leotard.
If your dancer currently has a tan leotard have her try it on before purchasing another one. Most tan leotards should last a year to two years.
You are welcome to add items to the group order and the total will be due on or prior to picking up your order at class. Just add $1.50 to each item for shipping.
If you are interested in joining the group order: Just email me the quantity, size, color and product number of what you are interested in ordering.
WEBSITE UPDATES!
LOST and FOUND: We have updated the website with a new tab of Lost and Found! Many parents don't get the opportunity to check the lost and found so we have decided to post pictures on the website of those items left behind. Please not that if your daughter has lost her shoes I never put them in the lost and found bin but keep them in a separate area so that they don't get picked up by someone else. Please label your dancers shoes inside and this will help me in getting the shoes back to your dancer!
DANCE MUSIC AND MUSIC FOR SONGS: We have updated the website with some of the dancers favorite music and with the words to their songs so that they can practice for the recital. During Thanksgiving break is a wonderful time for them to show and tell and share their talent with others and practice!
DRESS REHEARSAL/RECITAL LETTER
Attached is the dress rehearsal/recital letter for this semester with information regarding the schedule, what to bring, parking, etc. Please note we had to make a slight change to due our new additional Senior Dance class we added this semester.
CHECK SPELLING:
To ensure your daughter has the correct spelling on the recital program please check to make sure we have her name spelled correctly or that we are using the correct name. Some parent/dancers prefer to use their nickname or shortened version so we want to make sure that we are using the preferred name.
Thank you for reading this lengthy email and I hope that it was able to answer any questions you might be having about the coming months ahead for dance. If I have missed anything questions or concerns you might have please don't hesitate to contact me.

The recitals should last from approximately 1 hour. Please make note of the dress rehearsal and recital times and have your dancer arrive on time so that we can begin and end on time.
**All dancers must arrive 30 minutes before their RECITAL START time to get them ready for their recital and PLEASE make sure they have used the restroom prior to dress rehearsal and recital.** Dancers do not need to arrive 30 minutes early to their dress rehearsal!
The dress rehearsal and recitals will be held in Heidi’s Creative Dance studio (address at the bottom of letter). The dress rehearsal is also open to those who would prefer to come and watch at that time. WE REQUEST extended family and friends of the PM classes come to the dress rehearsals so that there is plenty of seating for immediate family for the recitals. There is no fee to watch either the dress rehearsal or recital. Please remind young audience members of proper behavior while watching recitals. THE BLEACHERS ARE RESERVED FOR PARENTS OF THE DANCERS. This is an up close and personal audience and you are welcome to bring your video camera and picture camera to the recital/dress rehearsal and be ready to cheer on your beautiful dancer(s).
RECITAL SEATING: Seating is on a first come first serve basis and doors will open 30 minutes prior to the recital. The bleacher style seating is reserved for the parents of the dancers on the day of recital. There is no restrictions for the day of the dress rehearsals. Please have any guest that come to the recital use the side benches and children use the small stools. This will ensure parents being able to see their daughter well and also be able to get some great pictures. Benches by the mirrors are for those that arrive late. Children are asked to sit on the stools, parent’s laps or on the floor.
Only a dancer(s) mom, big sister or grandmother will be allowed in the dressing room with the dancers. All others will need to enter and exit through the other entrance of the dance room. This is for the privacy of our dancers.
Your dancer will need to wear the following to the Dress Rehearsal and Recital:
ü 1 Tan/ Flesh colored Camisole Leotard (this will be worn underneath a leotard that will be provided)
ü 1 Pair of White Footed Tights (if wearing ballet slippers) or Footless Tights (if they have bare feet)
Please also make sure that if your dancer chooses to wear underwear under her tights that it’s white or flesh colored underwear. If your dancer would like to wear her ballet slippers in the show please make sure they are pink or white. It is not required for younger dancers that they wear ballet slippers. Mature dancers need to wear a white bra or flesh colored bra (no sports bra). Please keep jewelry to a minimum of small earrings only. No necklaces, bracelets or watches please.
Hair: ALL DANCERS WILL NEED A TINY PONYTAIL ON THE TOP AND RIGHT SIDE OF THEIR HEAD TO HOLD HAIR
ACCESSORIES IN PLACE (please use small elastic band). This will help ensure the hair accessories will hold in place and keep the hair out of the dancers face on all hairstyles and lengths. After that have fun with the hairstyles. Braids, buns, pigtails, ponytails curled hair, etc. Please use hairspray or clips or bobby pins if necessary to keep hair pulled back and out of face.
Makeup: Dancers may wear light makeup (blush, lip gloss, mascara, etc.) Please no heavy makeup that might get on the costumes.
All dance fees must be paid to Ms. Heidi prior to the Dress Rehearsal. This includes the $25 costume maintenance/ registration fee. Please make a note of this so that your dancer will be able to perform in her recital. Please contact us if you need to verify how much is owed. Please note that the dress rehearsal and recital count as the final classes for the month of Dec.
We are so excited for this special time for your dancer to show you her beautiful and graceful talent.
If you should have any questions please contact us.
Thank you!
